Thames Valley 'heart and lungs' of UK economy

The message is one business leaders want to put across to the government under a new Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) being set up by the Thames Valley’s leading businesses.

Mark Ashwell, chairman of Wokingham Chamber of Commerce and member of the Berkshire Economic Strategy Board, said the new LEP would be lobbying the Government to continue supporting commerce in Wokingham, Bracknell and Reading.

Local businesses have until September 6 to submit a proposal to form an LEP. Mr Ashwell said this is likely to be made up of firms drawn from the main towns of Berkshire and will feature business leaders from the area.
