Buoyant economy makes Reading top for jobs

Reading is the number one place in the country to look for work and the town is best placed in the UK to emerge from recession, according to two reports published last month. (Sourced from getreading.)
A study by Centre for Cities placed Reading behind only London, Milton Keynes and Cambridge in terms of buoyant economies.

And an investigation by The Work Foundation put Reading joint first with Bracknell in terms of growth potential and employment opportunities.

The Centre for Cities report "Private Sector Cities" said that buoyant places such as Reading have been creating thousands of new jobs in the private sector.

The report refered to Reading as being the "functional economic area" of Reading, Bracknell Forest and Wokingham local authorities.

The Work Foundation report "No city left behind?" said cities with highly educated populations, high levels of employment in knowledge intensive industries and relatively low levels of employment in the public sector are likely to lead the recovery.
