The further education college in Reading is due to transfer to a new provider on 1 August 2010.
Thames Valley University (TVU) will transfer its further education provision in Reading to Reading College, a new partnership between Oxford & Cherwell Valley College (OCVC) and the Learning and Skills Network (LSN).

TVU is to retain its commitment to providing higher education in the region, and Sally Dicketts, principal of OCVC, will become the principal of the new institution when it comes into being in August.

Sally Dicketts said: “We are thrilled at the opportunity to deliver dynamic and high quality further education courses alongside LSN and we are focused on supporting the various local learning needs of all the communities in and around Reading.”

In addition to providing its students with the best possible further education opportunities, Reading College will work to play an important role in economic recovery in the  Reading region, contribute to a population with a high standard of general education and an appropriate profile of skills to maintain and extend Reading’s competitive advantage and respond to local learning and skills needs.

The new principal of Reading College spoke exclusively to R:UK magazine recently about the role that education is increasingly playing in helping our cities regenerate and develop.
