Reading’s residents, workers and visitors were encouraged to write positive messages onto giant R, D and G letters installed in Reading town centre this month, to describe what they enjoy about the town.
The two metre-high and one-metre wide letters were installed by economic development company, Reading UK CIC, as part of a drive to celebrate “all that’s great” about the town. The organisation moved the letters around several locations throughout Reading during August.
Suggestions from the organisation about what to write included thoughts on what people love about living and working in Reading, what makes them most proud of the town and what they would tell people from outside about life in the town.
Reading UK CIC, said: “Reading is changing fast with the redevelopment of the station area, new town centre housing, plans for a year of culture in 2016, a new bridge and much more. We wanted to capture the opinions of people in Reading at a specific point in time and find out what they think about the town at this stage, what they most like about Reading and what they hope for Reading in the future.”
