Barton Willmore, the planning and design consultancy which has been based in Reading for more than 80 years, has moved to new offices in the city centre.
To mark the occasion, more than 150 property and business representatives attended an event at the new offices – The Blade in Abbey Square – which featured a quirky art exhibition with Lego displays “showcasing the economic benefits of development” .
Barton Willmore has worked on a number of residential, commercial and energy schemes in Reading and the wider Thames Valley, including headquarters for Thames Water, Honda and Vodafone. It is currently guiding the University of Reading’s science park proposals, Reading FC’s new training facilities and the new-look Caversham Precinct.
Jenni Montgomery, business development director, said: “Our move to the centre of Reading is quite significant for us, it’s a huge contrast to our last office – a barn conversion in Calcot – and offers us a great space in the heart of Reading and the Thames Valley.
“To celebrate this with our local friends and clients we wanted to do something unusual, and not just a drinks reception with brochures and speeches. Instead we set out to illustrate our creativity, spark interesting conversations and amusement with our guests, many of whom already know a lot about who we are and what we do.”
