House prices rise above national average in 2012

Reading's house prices rose by some 1.98 per cent in 2012 - almost double the national average, according to a survey by property website Zoopla.
The town ranked ninth on a table of the nation’s best performing housing hotspots, with the average value of a property rising by some £5,797 to £293,267 during the year, the Reading Post reported.
It said the average UK property was now worth £228,226.
