Businesses offered say on Civic Centre redevelopment

Reading Borough Council has begun a consultation on the future use of the site of its current Civic Centre when the building is abandoned next year.

Council leader Jo Lovelock said it was essential that the town-centre site was redeveloped as quickly as possible after the current building’s demolition, the Reading Post reported.

She said council officers would be meeting with local landowners over the coming weeks to get their views on how the site should be used, ahead of the production of a development brochure later in the year.

The authority is due to move to new offices at Plaza West in 2014.
