Rail line improvements approved

Reading Borough Council has approved plans for viaducts and box junctions which will create a raised railway along a stretch of the Great Western main line.

The changes will raise passenger services over the top of the line, so that they can avoid freight trains, speeding up the service.

But the council has asked Network Rail to look at ways of protecting the new viaducts from grafitti.
