Network Rail has appointed a joint venture firm to overhaul Reading station in a contract worth around 80 million.

Costain and Hochtief have joined forces to work on the project, which will see five new platforms plus a footbridge linking them to new entrance buildings each side of the station.

The deal could create new civil engineering jobs in the town.
